Farmers Elijah Mphaphuli and Johny Maponya are harvesting sweet piquante peppers. The harvest period commenced in January will proceed until May 2020. Sweet piquante is produced for Pepperdew International who has signed off-take agreements with farmers. The product is processed and marketed locally and internationally. Sweet piquante is sometimes called a wonder product in that in only one hectare a farmer may yield at least 25 tons. Although a very sensitive crop to produce it can be very profitable when farmed correctly.
