Makhathini Farm 

Makhathini Agricultural Development Primary Cooperative in Jozini (Northern KwaZulu-Natal) has close to 300 members growing various types of crops including vegetables, green mielies, and sugar cane. In the last four years, Peulwana has supported over 100 farmers with funding to grow sugar cane. The impact of the intervention on the cooperative is reflected in the increase of cane output from about 70 000 tons of cane per annum in 2009 to about 140 000 in 2014.

Despite the drought in 2015, the impact of the MAFISA Scheme that Peulwana is running on poverty alleviation is significant at least in the case of members of Makhathini Agricultural Development Primary Cooperative.
